I’ve just decided that I’m going to devote every Tuesday to blogging about food. I may enlighten you with a recipe I’ve recently tried, or I may rave about one of my favorite foods. Last Tuesday was the former (mac’n’cheeze), this Tuesday is the latter.
I’m going to tell you about something that I eat every single day. Almond butter. Raw, unsalted almond butter from Trader Joe’s. I like it creamy rather than crunchy, but I could only find a picture of the crunchy stuff and I am too lazy busy to take one myself.
I eat this nutty, sweet spread on toast, bananas, oatmeal, pretzels, prunes, you name it. I can’t get enough of it. Just looking at the picture sets of an intense craving. A longing. My mouth waters and my stomach calls out. If I hadn’t bought a very sexy, very non-mommy bikini to motivate myself into eradicating the rest of my baby weight, I’d probably eat almond butter after every meal. And for every snack.
In fact, if I had to choose 5 foods to eat for the rest of my life, almond butter would be one of them. Whole almonds don’t do it for me, it’s gotta be the butter. Nothing added. No preservatives. Completely natural. Completely delicious.
But that’s enough about my love affair with almond butter. You can find it at any major grocery store. But I prefer Trader Joe’s raw, creamy, unsalted almond butter. $5 for a jar of goodness.
Now, I have to ask, assuming you had to choose 5 foods to eat for the rest of your life, what’s the first one that comes to mind?
