“Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; love more, and all good things will be yours.” – Swedish proverb
My husband and I are on a campaign to whine less.
We all have bad days. Whining is a comforting habit, a way to validate the drudgery of parenthood and modern life, of traffic jams and temper tantrums and spilled milk, and it’s a difficult balance to strike between whining and voicing your frustrations in a healthy, constructive manner.
I don’t have the answers, but I do admire the simplicity of this proverb, this minimalist point of view that less might actually be more. Whine less and breathe more. Love more, and all good things will be yours.
Perhaps that’s all it takes.
