August Break, day 13: Giovanna wearing Aunt Julia’s wings and dancing to her solo.
Last week, we visited my sister at her new house on the Oregon coast, and then traveled South to Ashland for a family reunion. I know how good it feels to visit with family, and I can see how it makes the children feel, too: special. Because we belong to something that existed long before our birth and will continue on forever. And we know, consciously and subconsciously, that we matter to this group. We are this group.
When we know our roots, we are free to fly. Just like this toddler with the wings.
