A Pep-Talk

In the past month my gym attendance grew very spotty. There will be weeks we cannot stick to our normal routine. Perhaps months. We will rest, work and travel. We will do what we need to do.

Now, I am fresh out of the showers. I am comfortable in my clean sweated skin, happy healthy heartful, and my love for the gym strikes me as odd. Impossible. Through out my youth and young adulthood, I was convinced exercise had to be endured.

Alas. People do change. Perhaps I am addicted to the high, or maybe it’s habit. In both cases, repetition came first. The more I exercise, the more I exercise. The more types of exercise I try, the more I know what works for me.

Life wants to disrupt our normalcy. Life wants to shake us into new patterns.

If you want to reap the benefits of exercise [hint: you will come alive]; all you have to do is show up.

Show up and sweat.

Do it when you don’t feel like doing it.

Do it when you don’t have time.

Do it when other people don’t want you to do it.

Do it without your headphones.

Do it instead of driving.

Do it instead of watching TV.

Do it while watching TV

Do it for 10 minutes or 90 minutes.

Schedule it.

Switch it up.

Try something new. Why not?

If you exercise consistently for long enough, you will never want to give it up. Don’t just take my word for it, either. Ask around. Find out for yourself.
