Love vs Fear: Which side do you choose?

There are only two sides. The dark side, the hate, the fear. And the light side, the peace, the love.

When you say, “Fuck Nazis,” you’re expressing violence towards human beings. And so they have won, because they have brought you over to their side. The dark side.

When you delete a “friend” on social media because you disagree with them, you’re narrowing your perspective. You’re putting yourself in a homogeneous bubble. You’re myopic. You’re looking into a cave. You’re missing life on a diverse planet.

When you attack another person for their views, when you name call and shun and belittle, then you’re too mad to ask questions, you’re failing curiosity, you’re never going to understand the other side, because you don’t want to understand the other side, because you hate the other side. Suddenly, you’re a hater. You’re fighting for the dark side.

When you talk shit, when you gossip and cast judgment and pretend you know a lot about that which you know little, you are failing compassion. You are failing empathy. You are spewing venom like the snake. (Forgive me for the times I have been a snake.)

When you hate on yourself, when you self-flaggelate, when you cannot forgive yourself, when you forget that you are made in the image of God and you are part of God and a particle of God; then you are forgetting who you are.

When you listen to people without letting your mind wander or planning what you’re going to say next, when you listen with your full attention, when you concentrate on the other person, then you might hear their brilliance and be touched by their vulnerability. You are able to see how amazing people are. You are not afraid of beauty.

When you open your heart, when you bear your truth, when you are exactly who you are, you become whole. You give other people an experience of wholeness. You uplift and inspire them.

When you desire your own evolution, you see every challenge and conflict as an opportunity to ask questions, learn, and grow. You try not to resist your problems because you know that life unfolds for you. You pay attention to the nuances instead of numbing out. Everywhere you go, you learn.

When you direct your energy mindfully, when you accept that every thought, word, and deed matters, then you are indeed awake.

When you approach each moment as another opportunity to love and love differently and love deeper, then your life becomes a catalyst for evolution.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi

“A Lightworker is anyone who devotes their life to being a bright light in the world. They understand that their actions (no matter how big or small) have the potential to raise the vibration of the planet. A Lightworker soul is awake, conscious that their presence matters and that they are part of something that is bigger than them.” – Rebecca Campbell
